Top Rank's initial complaint was dismissed by a judge in early October because the complaint lacked the necessary details to proceed to a jury trial so Top Rank amended their complaint and re-filed their lawsuit.
The new amended suit charges:
- PBC blocked attempts to secure the services of top level fighters like Deontay Wilder, Keith Thurman, Marcos Maidana, Lamont Peterson, Abner Mares, Adrien Broner and Errol Spence
- Listed specific examples of fights that were deterred involving fighters currently under Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) banner
- PBC is dominating the U.S. televised boxing market, citing a 3:1 balance of PBC fights on air over the past five months as opposed to events outside of Haymon’s influence
- Haymon purchasing airtime through exclusive output deals with all four major free-TV networks is preventing other promoters from working with said networks
- Cites numerous examples (through social media) of PBC fighters referring to Haymon as a “promoter”, which would conflict with his advisory role
If the judge finds that the amended complaint meets the mandated requirements then the case will move to a jury trial. At that point, it becomes up to the defendant (Haymon in this case) to disprove the allegations being made.
