and Bruce Springsteen use to call himself the "BOSS" :comeon:

"You know, Bruce Springsteen, who I've turned off of these days because he's too money hungry. He'll say "It's my manager. It's my lawyer." You're 57 years old. You can't say "it's my manager, it's my lawyer." And you take whatever... 10 million dollars, 50 million, 100, whatever... I don't know what the number is because it's all over the place. And you know that you're not selling those kinds of records anymore."- Walter Yetnkikoff

Legendary record executive Tommy Mottola was left mortified when his label boss struck Bruce Springsteen on the head for failing to say hello.

Mottola is famous for having nurtured the careers of some of the biggest artists in history, including his ex-wife Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Billy Joel and Springsteen.

But he feared his professional relationship with the Dancing in the Dark rocker was ruined after controversial Cbs records chief Walter Yetnikoff swiped the star around the back of the head at the beginning of a dinner.
Mottola tells The Hollywood Reporter
, :russ:

"I wanted to run out of the restaurant. The last thing I needed was Bruce thinking I was a part of that kind of behaviour. It was extreme, but if you know Walter, anything was possible.

"Still, Walt was one of the kindest guys to come along in this business. Despite the things that brought him down and made him fall apart (from alcoholism), he was a brilliant man, and without him, I would probably not have the opportunities that I did."

Mottola eventually took over from Yetnikoff at Cbs Records when the label was relaunched as Sony Music .

okay............and what's your point?
i don't really have a point, just saying this kinda thing is normal to me...

how many artists have been purposefully hooked on drugs to make them more controllable
how many artists have been forced to provide sexual favors (both gay and straight) to get attention from the machine
how many artists have been physically intimidated by enforcers (mob ties...) to make them more controllable
how many artists have been purposefully kept broke to make them more controllable
how many artists have been manipulated to be separated from the family/friends/partners to make them more controllable

artists are the hoes and labels the pimps... they are treated that way literally often

and I was just sharing this example to show him THE MUSIC INDUSTRY as a whole is EXPLOITIVE and it's been like that since it's inception

Industry is exploitaive because all they provide is money by way of a high priced loan. You can make a label $100 million (10 million sold) and only see $2million ($7 million gross - $5million expenses = $2million) because you pay for even your own CD case. Now think about the artists who only sell a million.

Wow...and the execs know they need you more than you need them. I'm glad the game changed, since nothing is selling these days, a lot of artists have to ride their own wave because the contracts are garbage.

Look a Kevin Liles talking about 360 deals.

He looks soulless, you can see it in his eyes.

How can you try to disguise 360 deals as anything but a money grab? Talking about a 360 deal gives you a board of director and a robust relationship? :childplease: It wasn't like that before.

Yep, Payola is the game. Trust me, there is a reason Cardi B is number 1. They had to replace Nikki. The game is rigged.
