Thousands of blacks have opened new accounts at black-owned Citizens Trust Bank

ATLANTA — More Than 8,000 people have opened up new accounts at Citizens Trust Bank, according to officials at the black-owned bank in Atlanta.

There has been renewed enthusiasm and impassioned pleas by civic and civil rights leaders for black Americans to invest in black-owned businesses and black financial institutions in light of the latest police killings of black men last week in Baton Rouge, La., and suburban Minneapolis. And it looks like the masses are finally listening.

The logic is that blacks will continue to be the victims of brutality, either by police or by the system, unless African Americans develop a power base that is respected. One way to do that is to develop strong cultural unity that enables blacks to maximize their dollar and collective wealth through investing in black-owned banks.

Citizens Trust Bank in Georgia and Alabama have shown exponential growth over the last few days because of a new level of consciousness enveloping the community. Take a look at this line of prospective customers looking to open up an account with the Citizens Trust.

I was apart of the media campaign that did this, they have a young member advisory board and I'm linked with most them people. I opened up an account myself. From what I've been told most of their deposits before this campaign were made by churches. They now have a consumer platform and will be coming out with an app sometime within this month

Been fukking with CTB for years. The last 9-5 I had used to have they payroll drawn from them. It was a real small 501, it was only like 6 employees. And you already know how fickle that non profit game is with the grant money. Sometimes it's late and sometimes it ain't there at all. My old ED told me more than once that they didn't have the bread to cover payroll cuz of a draw down delay and CTB went ahead and cut the checks anyway. That's that real DOPE shyt. Looking out for you fellow brother/sister when they really need it. A white bank or hell any other normal bank woulda had everybody on the unemployment line with no fukks given. I had a account with CTB even before then tho. Mom dukes made me open up one years ago and I've had it ever since
