Update:
Marvel's Agent Carter TV Series May Get a Straight to Series Order
Ideally with Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark

by Anthony Couto APRIL 14, 2014

The last thing we heard on Marvel’s possible Agent Carter TV series was that ABC had a script in hand, from Captain America: The Winter Soldier scribes Christopher Markusand Stephen McFeely. And now, it seems the show may get a straight to series order.

According to Deadline, there are talks for a series pickup of the Hayley Atwell-led series, which “may come along with a renewal for Marvel’s freshman Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Earlier reports indicated that the series would take place in 1946, mid-way through the Peggy Carter One-Shot, and before the complete formation of S.H.I.E.L.D. If all goes to plan for Marvel, Dominic Cooper would play Howard Stark, in a recurring role.

With Hayley Atwell’s contract extended at Marvel, the star would return to the role of Peggy Carter.

How does an Agent Carter TV series set in 1946 series sound? Or would you like it set in 2014, and have it Murder, She Wrote style? Sound off in the comments!

ABC Confirms Possible Agent Carter Marvel TV Series; Reaper Creators Would Serve as Showrunners
New Marvel project moving forward at network.

by Eric Goldman JANUARY 17, 2014

At the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, after months of reports about the project, ABC finally gave official confirmation that they are working on a potential Agent Carter TV series, which would star Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, the character introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger.

ABC president Paul Lee revealed the script for Agent Carter has come in and described it as “great.” He also confirmed that Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, the creators of Reaper, were involved, with the pilot written by Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Without saying he’d ordered a pilot yet, Lee did state that Agent Carter, “Has a great chance of showing up on the network.”

There was, essentially, already an Agent Carter pilot in the form of the short Atwell starred in on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray – establishing how she began working for the earliest incarnation of SHIELD. Dominic Cooper and Neal McDonough both appeared in their Captain America: The First Avenger roles, as Howard Stark and Dum Dum Dugan, and both have said they’d be up for appearing on the potential series as well.

Lee also commented upon Marvel’s recent deal to launch multiple new series on Netflix, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones. Lee remarked, “We’re thrilled to do that deal,” noting, “That’s our studio. We’ll be co-producing.”

I had the chance to speak to Butters shortly after, who clarified that when it came to Agent Carter, “We’d be coming on as showrunners and being a part of the series. We’re very excited to be included in the Marvel family and to be a part of ABC Studios.”

I asked if the period setting Peggy Carter exists in was an appeal for Butters and Fazekas and she Butters replied, “Absolutely. It’s one of the things that drew Michele and I to the project, because she’s such a strong, wonderful character if you’ve seen the one-shot and we’re just very happy to be involved.”

Butters’ husband, Marc Guggenheim, is actually one of the main executive producers on Arrow. Asked about the fact that she’s now working on a Marvel project while her husband works for a DC series, she remarked, “We’re a Marvel/DC family. We’re all inclusive!”

didn't abc do this piggybacking shyt w/ a once upon a time like similar show? develop something else new. agents of shield started off slow enough. we don't need TWO shows where we don't get what we really want (real fukkin heroes). be glad the one you have works.

Honestly, who wants this show?
I keep asking myself this question. I honestly can't think of anything memorable about this character from the Capt. America movie at all.
They would have been better off doing a series that showed what the Winter Soldier had been up to while Capt. America was frozen.

Marvel and ABC need to stop looking at these tv-series as complements to the movies and start focusing on creating series that stand strong on their own. If DC/WB can pull off quality television with Arrow, there's no reason we can't get a solid Daredevil/Punisher/Moon Knight series.

She was Capt. America's girlfriend during WW 2 in the comics and the Cap movie.

Yep, pretty much. "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" is always gonna be at major disadvantage compared to "Arrow" because of this.
