Saw they did a list like this on Gawker and thought it would be a good idea to do here.

THE RULES
To qualify as a franchise there must be at least 3 movies released.
Remakes of movies can be counted as part of the franchise.
Must be horror flicks. Duh.

:lupe: Still never seen the Hellraiser movies despite the fact it's referenced in "Scream". The only "Living Dead" film I've seen is the 2004 "Dawn of the Dead" remake directed by Zack Snyder, written by James Gunn. I don't even know what the hell the "Phantasm" series is.

:ehh: Seen all the movies in those other film series in your top 10 though.

Evil Dead is batting 100 to me. They need to stop fukking around and make Evil Dead 2 or the sequel to Army of Darkness. :upsetfavre:

I'm hesitant to say the Alien series, but really...even the worst movies are better than the lows of the likes of Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween. If you include the AvP films, even they are more competent in their execution.

You should make time to watch the original Night of the Living Dead, the OG Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and the 1990 NIght of the Living Dead remake.

And Phantasm is a really underrated horror gem from the 70s.

I don't know what the hold up is with the sequel to the Evil Dead remake either. The damn thing made almost $100 million and only cost $17 million to make. The audience is there and hungry for it especially if Bruce Campbell will be in it.

I think it's a pretty much a given that Evil Dead, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and the Living Dead movies will be on most lists and rightfully so.

1. Halloween
2. Friday the 13th
3. Living Dead
4. Frankenstein (Universal)
5. Evil Dead
6. Phantasm
7. Dracula (Hammer Films)
8. Return of the Living Dead
9. A Nightmare on Elm Street
10. Scream

Top four are REALLY close for me. Catch me on a different day and they might have a different order.
