It's the most important thing in a hip hop track because that's where the whole thing starts. Even from history. Once you get the beat right, THEN you can start talking about rhyming.

When you so-called "real hip hop" cats tell me about how lyricism is everything, it's like :what: Do y'all even understand this genre?

Anyway, feel free to neg and hate on SirBiatch

If I don't like the beat of a song, the song is automatically mediocre.

No hate here but to me, the essentials of a song are the beat, lyrics, and delivery and compromising on either one leads to a song that is not good to my ears...

I agree. But there is an order to this shyt because some parts carry more weight than others. This is my whole point.

It's basic common sense. All of my favorite rappers are my favorites in major part because they rhymed on my favorite beats.

honestly i can agree with that. you can have all the lyrics in the world but if your sound sucks people wont fukk with it. i feel like the beat is the advertisement of the party which is the lyrics.

Yes they are. just because the beat is the most important in terms of the history of hip hop doesn't mean it has to be ones favorite element of a hip hop song

I see where you're coming from, but it's a fine line.

Genres are built on specific principles/ideas/emotions. If your favorite part of that genre is not the core principle that makes that genre exist and flourish, are you really a fan of that genre?

just food for 'thot' :troll:
