Update: Now the long-rumored new Star Trek TV series has become a reality as first original series on CBS’ digital platform CBS All Access. Shepherded by Kurtzman, who will serve as executive producer, the series will premiere in January 2017 with a preview broadcast on CBS followed by an exclusive run in the U.S. on CBS All Access.

Hope it's the 24th century so we get to see ds9 and next gen characters and not the original series time line
I am wondering whether it will be the new timeline or the old one. I'd assume they'd make it the new one though just due to the movies, right?

TNG is kinda my start and end point too but I have been slowly watching the original series and trying to get into deep space nine but I'm always interested in new trek

They're trying to launch something new and they needed something big to launch it with. Trek doesn't really fit in with CBS' programming anymore so why not put it somewhere different

When I first read CBS I instantly thought "this won't make it past season 1" but it actually has a chance on All Access
