I just got back from South Africa a few days ago. Don’t know if anybody remembers but I made a thread about it a month or 2 ago asking for advice on what to do while I’m there.

The places I visited were Joburg, Kruger National Park, and Capetown. I also went mainly by myself, but I did stay with a friend for a few days who was working in the country.

The way I got around this was a site called couch surfer. I found a dude on there that was willing to show me where the good clubs were and this pretty much set up my whole trip. The women in Joburg :wow: The one thing that will work in your favor in Joburg is like half the dudes there are gay, the other half pretty much have no swag whatsoever. I ate pretty good in Joburg.

I actually wasn't feeling Capetown that much. The scene there reminded me of adams morgan in DC. It was also....pretty westernized. It was still fun, and I ate there as well....but I preferred Joburg.

Traveling by myself wasn't bad at all. Its a great convo starter and you end up meeting more people. I'm actually glad I went by myself because I don't think it would of been as fun if I was with my friends. I had my own car, and being by myself meant total freedom to do what I wanted and pick up who I wanted without having to plan around anybody. All my coli brehs should travel regardless of if your friends want to come or not. I got tired of going to Miami and nobody wanted to come to Africa with me. You are only young once....make the most of it. It really helps broaden your mind.

I'd love to go back, I get the feeling that I'd like Joburg more than Capetown this time around. The more I travel the less I fukk with the tourist traps.

I was drunk as shyt my first weekend and lost my camera club hopping on Saturday...I did buy another one but the only pictures I have on there really are of the safari and some buildings to show people that Africa ain't all huts.

Capetown reminds me of Miami...except for the water is too damn cold to get into. Its really confusing when the weather is over 90F but you can't go in the water because its not warm enough.

I would say it is a lot more to do in Capetown than Joburg. If you don't meet people in Joburg you are going to be pretty bored. So don't make that your spot if you are an introvert. I was able to meet a girl who showed me around which is why I enjoyed Joburg so much. Before anybody asks, no I am not posting her pic.

Downtown was pretty grimey....I never felt unsafe but I don't know if I would recommend it for a white american. I kinda feel like as a black male who ain't lame...I live by a different set of rules in these so called dangerous places. But I wouldn't recommend ANYBODY to walk down some side streets alone at night. I wouldn't even do that in DC alone in a dangerous area.
