-says when she used to follow cardi 5 years ago she talked a lot more about being black, talked about anti black racism, talked about her nappy hair and talked about colorism- feels like since her career she's been more ambiguous about whether she considers herself black- says that's not cool and cardi is a lot smarter than people give her credit for

- feels her racial ambiguity is being played up- such as speaking spanish in a way to white wash hip hop

- feels her rise as a rapper wasn't organic and there is a huge mainstream push - superbowl ad, oprah, and she is being push to mainstream white audiences because she is racially ambiguous - says actual black artists didn't rise up as fast as she did

-feels peopleare deliberately overlooking that because they like cardi and her music

Didn't watch but she's right.

Its happening right before our very eyes. Its not about right now, its about 50 years from now. "Whitewashing" is a long, slow process over time that effects people in the future more than people of the present. The foundation is being laid now.

An entire generation of people have been born who now correlates hip-hop and r&b as being just as much white as it is black.

The fact that she was comparing Dej Loaf's Try Me to the hit that Bodak Yellow was kills this whole video for me. There's a difference between a hit and a huge smash. Cardi's rise is the perfect storm. A huge hit plus Cardi has an infectious personality. It's ridiculous to narrow it down because she's racially ambiguous.

Shorty in the video strikes me as one of those black women that don't really get along or know any black people in real life outside of online interactions.
