Former NBA player DeShawn Stevenson, who last played for the Atlanta Hawks in 2013 recently gotten himself into trouble with American Express. Stevenson had an AMEX Black Card at one point, but never paid the bill and now owes the company $384,000.

AMEX to him to court and received a judgement against him to garnish his bank accounts to pay for the outstanding balance owed. Only one problem, they checked his Bank of America account and he only had $62.09 available, which AMEX garnished.

DeShawn Stevenson made over $28 Million in his NBA career, so it doesn’t mean that he is broke, he’s probably hiding the money elsewhere away from creditors.

Ex-NBA Player DeShawn Stevenson Owes AMEX $384K; Only $62.09 In His Bank Account

An NBA Player Has An ATM In His Kitchen That Holds $20,000 And Charges An Egregious Fee
Brooklyn Nets player Deshawn Stevenson made waves when he tweetedout a picture of himself and his in-home ATM earlier this week.

Now, we have fresh details from TMZ:

  • It holds $20,000, and he gets it refilled 4-6 times a year
  • It has a $4.50 fee every time you use it (!)
  • It cost $3,500
Stevenson's reasoning for buying it, "I like doing things that aren't normal and it's cool to have."

He added that it's primarily used by his rich friends before they go out.

It is pretty cool. But a $4.50 fee is out of control.
Safe to say this wasn't the brightest idea
