He can't go five minutes without mentioning that he produces/mixes/masters his own shyt, which is great but I don't need to hear about it every 5 minutes let the music do the talking. Plus the beats that he makes are just royalty free loops from looperman with some shytty drums on em.

I found his album a chore to get through.

It's funny, I've been listening to him for years, back when 2DopeBoyz would drop every song and mixtape he would release and shyt with his crew Diemon or something. Don't know if they still exist. About 2/3 years ago I stopped checking for him, simply because he was dropping so much and to be honest, he wasn't saying anything. Just song after song after song, saying nothing.

Then he kinda blew up, so I thought "Maybe he's found an angle or a sound or something and figured it all out", so I checked his newer stuff, and it was the same. Song after song of pretty superficial shyt or just talking about how he did it "all on his own".

Gave his album a courtesy spin. Too long, just a collection of songs with no real direction.

Back to not listening to Russ I go lol

Good for him, though. He's making money and having fun I hope.

I think I;'ve heard one song from this dude and it sucked but when I found out produced, mixed, mastered all his work I thought that was very impressive and especially since it seems like he really did build a fanbase from the ground up through that. That's some real shyt.

I think it's impressive to mix/master all on your own but when you constantly tell people you're better than other artists because you do that it kinda takes away from the music which isn't even that good in the first place to me.
