Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper told CSNPhilly.com he's in favor of the NFL banning the use of the N-word.
"I think it's a good rule," Cooper said.
The NFL's competition committee is expected to discuss a rule where players would be penalized 15 yards for using racial slurs on the field.
Cooper has a history with the word after video surfaced of him using the word last summer at a Kenny Chesney concert. Cooper apologized and took a brief leave of absence from the team. He recovered from the incident, finishing second on the team in receiving yards (835) and receiving touchdowns (eight).
On Thursday, Cooper parlayed his successful 2013 season into a new contract with the Eagles, agreeing to a five-year, $25 million contract, a league source said.
