Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) took his anti-Trump political rhetoric to another level on Wednesday, when he accused Attorney General Jeff Sessions of wanting African Americans at the back of the bus again during a speech at the We the People Summit in Washington, D.C.
“They want to roll back the clock. Sessions? He just love, you know, for black people to be in the back of the bus again. Yeah, he’d love for women to be in the kitchen. He’d love for gay people to be in the closet again. And for me not to have a microphone to be able to speak to anybody,” Gutierrez said.
When Sessions was the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Alabama in the 1980s, he successfully prosecuted members of the Ku Klux Klan and “bankrupted” the organization in Alabama.
