Well, I think that in USA Reggae became CAC music just like here in Brazil. I mean a few years ago Reggae became the sensation and lots of cacs went on that Bob Marley fanboy style. I even had to listen some cacs saying "BUT BOB MARLEY WAS MIXED, HE HAD WHITE BLOOD TOO" type of bullshyt.

For an example, here's a kinda famous Reggae duo from the place where I live here:

I went to a show of these dudes a time ago and the place was :mjpls:

Ok, It's no shocking news that this happened to Reggae, there's SOJA and all those folks from a while.but now I'm seeing this pattern really happening to Hip Hop too (since Eminem we gotta admit it kinda happening). It became a fashion amongst mid to upper classes here (cac in general) and we got a lot of "new sensations" in HipHop here. That a look:

And this dude is/was the sensation in Rap. Dude is some rich guy who sings about gangsta shyt lmao:

Bonus: He with Kanye and some random guy lmao:

Anyway. The OG's at brazilian rap, Racionais MC's said in recent interviews that things are out of hand and rap became a rich whitebois thing

Racionais mcs, OG brazilian hip hop group:

Europe always embraced 'White Dancehall / Reggae artists that were homegrown from there' because the current music in jamaica is progressing away from the traditional sound (kinda like how hip hop went away from the 90's sound) ... however still a huge market for it in europe so rather than wait for old school artists to come and give them old school songs with that sound ... white artists just emulate it and create a career that way .. cant be mad if you abandoned that sound ... its basic supply and demand.

hip hop is something different though. White hip hop artists are being embraced to bridge the gap between hip hop / pop. its Pop Hop now.

Is Reggae popular is Brazil? I thought Sertanejo was the dominant music?

And yes, reggae is starting to bubble here... There was a surge of it in the 90's too. We will see if it last.

Funny how u mentioned ur artist said hip hop is a rich boy thing. That's basically how I view rap here. Not to say that's how all rap is, but I simply view it as a genre for trust fund babies now (I'm exaggerating)

Uhhh NO :comeon:

The.predominant artists in CONTEMPORARY REGGAE.are still BLACK

MAVADO...POPCAAN...are just a few examples

those white artists you mentioned are only popular in hybrid markets and genres

And are still considered novelties

just like the SOUMDSYSTEMS whixh are the HEARTBEAT of reggae

although we got german sounds and japenese sounds like MIGHTY CROWN

for the most part BLACK OWNED SOUNDSYSTEMS with BLACK SELRCTORS still dominate worldwide

the closest Reggae came to having a "EMINEM" was the German deejay GENTLEMAN

but as you can see his status wasnt globally stellar

and Snow never reached the heights that one can assume

no no no ..no IGGY AZALEA fukkery gwan here :obama:

and thats because REGGAE is STILL THE VOICE.OF THE UNDERCLASS AND THE ANTI ESTABLISHMENT

consciousness is still respected in REGGAE

UNLIKE RAP MUSIC WHICH HAS SOLD ITS SOUL

and only gets turned up for a CHECK :russ:

Dont let the commercialization of Bob Marley fool you breh. Reggae is way blacker and defiant than current rap. They are the only nikkas still singing with a ounce of soul right now. Taurus Riley, Morgan Heritage, Jah Cure, etc.......... I will listen to reggae anyday over current RNB.

And thats before even touching on the dancehall giants: Mavado, Vybz, Buju, etc.....

Reggae is truthfully the only form of music that I still consider black music (meaning it still has traces of it's roots in the music and it hasn't been polluted and sucked dry by the corporate world....... yet)

Yes indeed...

REGGAE music still remains that SOUL REBEL MUSIC that corporate america will never be able to fully dilute

because it has always represented the sufferers....

Which is.why it had.global appeal across many nationalities and races

Cause the majority of the worlds population are laboring sufferers under this oppressive globalist Capitilist System

REGGAE is more than just black empowerment and cultural awareness

it SPEAKS AGAINST CLASSISIM as well

And speaks to the humanistic valur of Love and Harmony as well which is why its not.so suprising to see its gloval appeal

go to a reggae dance.if u never been..and your likely to see such a diverse crowd of nationalities and races.....

:blessed:
