DC shot thenselves in the foot the moment they decided to recast batman.

The Dark Knight Trilogy has its flaws most of which got overlooked.
The third movie is flawed as shyt, i agree with you there.
But the DCU hasnt done a better job since.
They could overlooked it the same way marvel overlooks hulk.

MOS was supposed to be their launching pad into a DECU but they fukked it up. It had potential and the one thing DC had over marvel up to that point was dope villians.
I will never let go of how they did Zod in that flick. Everything after MOS has been on big shoe horn event which is sad because they didn't lack for good actors.
WB basically held back DC's potential.
