NBA players know their worth. They know all these post game interviews are recorded and posted online. You not getting no free promo from any of them.

Gatorade trying to be slick and they not stupid. I would do the same thing if I went to an recorded post game interview and I saw a bottle of Gatorade, beats headphones, skittles, strategically placed on my table.

The only time I drank gatorade when I played ball in HS was in the 4th quarter when my energy was way down and I needed some sugar. That shyt is essentially sugar water. Gatorade is really only useful for people going on very long runs or bike rides.

I think they do that so they don't provide free product promo. They're only allowed to drink Gatorade and Water on sidelines. LeBron is sponsored by Coke (Powerade) so they just let him remove the gatorade bottle logo on his drinks.

Gatorade isn't even good for you. :yeshrug:

For the average couch person just sipping gatorade like it's water, yes it's not that good for you. But for professional athletes it does provide them value. The amount of strenuous activity during a full game negates whatever sugar they're drinking.

I’ve seen athletes drink Powerade or Body armour. Gatorade seems like old news.

This doesn’t seem like an enforceable rule. Do they even have the legal right to make such a rule? If a nikka wants to drink apple juice, he can’t? I don’t know about that.

A company is spending millions of dollars per year to advertise on a platform, and you think there are no statutes in place to prevent their competitors from getting completely free advertising on the platform their spending millions in attempt to control? They can drink whatever the hell they want. Most times it's water in those non-see through Gatorade and Powerade bottles, anyway. But there can't be any logos present other than those of the league sponsor.

This is hardly new. All the way back to the NFL stopping Jim McMahon from wearing an Addidas logo on his headband in the 80's or athletes not wearing their teams jerseys in their shoe ads because the league/team jersey sponsor is different from who they have their personal apparel deals with.

LeBron is never wearing his NBA gear in Powerade ads

That’s what I thought. Obviously, certain logos can’t be shown. The post I quoted said they were only allowed to drink water and Gatorade. I knew that couldn’t be true.
