A South Carolina woman is facing a child cruelty card after an incident involving a misplaced Mother's Day card.
The Spartanburg Police Department was called to a disturbance on the 100 Block of Amos Street in Upstate early Thursday evening.
Police said that when they arrived at the home, a grandmother was standing with two children, one of which was crying.
The older woman told officers that her daughter, the mother of the crying boy, had slapped him multiple times on the front, side and back of the head, reported Fox 5.
The mother was identified as 30-year-old Shontrell Murphy.
Police said that during the investigation the boy's sister told them that their mother was upset because the boy made a Mother's Day card for his grandmother and not her.
When she realized the card wasn't for her, Murphy tore it up and hit the boy repeatedly around the head, a police report says.
Officers said that they saw a handwritten card ripped to shreds at the scene.
Murphy admitted to smacking the child, according to a police report, but 'does not believe it was in a hard or violent manner.'
When asked why she hit him, she said 'because she could,' and that he had behavioral problems in school and she wants to discipline him, according to WSPA.
The children reportedly told the police that their mother hits them frequently and violently, and that they are afraid of her, reported Fox 5.
Murphy has been arrested and charged with cruelty to children.
Her son was taken to the hospital in an ambulance for evaluation, but a nurse said she did not see trauma to his head and he was later released.
She needs ha ass beat. That ain't just from no mother's day card neither. That bytch holds resentment towards them kids.

Maybe she was going to get her card on Sunday.
