Marvel can keep pumping out these flicks like a Fast Food joint, however their films will never be

"Classic films" or films that are "timeless" e.g. Stars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Terminator, Toy Story, Lord of The Rings, Planet Of The Apes, Harry Potter, OG Superman etc. These Marvel films just aren't "special" and most of them lack re-watch appeal. You get your fill and you move on to the new meal.

This is what happens when you keep pumping out flick after flick after flick in quick succession :snoop:. I call it "Friday the 13th syndrome". Creativity eventually starts to simmer and the films become far too "predictable" and far too similar with plots, villains and characters that are barely memorable. There's a reason why the OG Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street are the only repped films in their respective franchises which span 7+ movies. It's because The first installations were unique and creative and not hindered by or the product of studio interference.

Marvel make "good" films but not "great" films:yeshrug: that you can instantly watch with no hesitation when they come on TV or at anytime. These films wont be talked about or repped in 20+ years time:manny:.

Are you including Cap 2 in this. And if so, what's make it's good not great?

I agree. I said that in a thread the other day and people got heated at me and kept thinking I was calling Cap 2 a garbage film, it's not, but it's not a classic and I won't be watching it over and over like other classic films. Same goes for thor, ironman, spiderman, etc.

They lost their appeal to me around 2006... Only comic book movie I'm checking for is Batman, might give Superman a chance.
I can't stomach them and Avengers was some of the worst sh!t I seen, I don't know what people see in that trash.

They are pretty disposable and are advertisements for their next films, but even though they really don't do much for me I'm sure the comic book nerds are in a golden period of film right now so if the films speak to someone out there, it's a success on some level:manny:

Who cares about being classic or timeless? There are thousands of comic book characters and storylines to be converted from decades worth of comics to movies, and we love to see them. If Marvel or DC put out high budget movies every month like their comic counterparts I would be :blessed:

Friday the 13th is a series about ONE zombie with zero depth going around slashing people in comical fashion over and over. No way you can compare that to a universe of heroes and villiains that each really have and innumerable amount of story line possibilites

The term classic continues to be overused.. The same can be said about every other film company.. That's like saying Samuel l Jackson can be in 100 movies but will never have a classic like brad Pitt.. It's not a bad thing to be enjoyable and entertaining, good but not great..

It's hard to make a classic film in this day and age of cinema unless it's a drama. Science fiction films are ruined by mediocre acting, the money-slush hype etc.

Maybe 30-40 years from now The Avengers, Avatar, the Matrix will be well-recognized classics. It's just hard to perceive them being like that now....

Thor 2 was alright you know. It did its job as a science fiction/action film. I'd give Thor 2 a B grade. The love-story in Thor seems off because of Thor's weird non-human personality and Natalie Portman's "okay" acting.

Who gives a shyt. I won't watch any of those movies you listed above if they show it on TV. "Classic" is a subjective label.
