Didn't see it when it came out due to the male stripper shyt but just caught it randomly on cinemax and it was good as hell. Really well written and acted. Matthew mcconaughey the gawd had me dying "fukk that mirror like you mean it"

McConaughey was so perfectly sleazy in that film. When they had the party in his house and he had all these paintings and sculptures of himself all over the place.

Its weird that I've been wanting to see this for a while. Its on HBO Go now tho, so on my dude Sensitive's recommendation, imma endure the male stripping for some good drama.

The stripping is definitely part of the movie but it's not the focus of it really and it rarely gets gratuitous(at least in my opinion) and they actually bust some ill dance routines, it was not what I was expecting and I came away very impressed. Writing, acting, direction is all top notch.
Yep. Tatum's really gone from being some guy I couldn't stand to an actor to watch out for. McConaughey runs away with the show obviously.
It's also interesting in that it seems like Soderbergh has come up with something of a trilogy in this, The Girlfriend Experience, and Haywire. I base that mostly on his using actors that are known for physicality. So he'll use a porn star, an MMA fighter, a former male stripper. The Girlfriend Experience and Magic Mike are both also about individuals adapting to economic pressure so again, there's thematic similarities there. I dunno. Besides all that it's just a really great movie. I remember one of the people I was watching it with being disappointed at the ending and I'm just thinking it's really the best way to end this movie.
