A new Justice League animated series will debut online next month

Part of Machinima's new lineup of original content

Machinima's ambitions have only expanded since the days of Halo: 4 Forward Unto Dawn. As part of its Newfronts presentation in New York City today, the company announced that it has teamed up with Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics to create new online series for comics fans, starting with two seasons of a new Justice League animated series.

Next month will see the debut of Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, created by beloved DC Animated Universe mastermind Bruce Timm. The series, which was first announced last fall, will focus on darker, alternate versions of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman with whole new origin stories. (Superman is the son of General Zod, for instance.) The show will pave the way to a feature length film, which will be released next month, and a second season due out next year.

In addition, DC has two other new shows on the way. The first, #4Hero, is a live-action web series that's a modern take on the classic Dial H for Hero comic from the 1960s. The second, DC's Hero Project, involves contestants competing to create live action videos based on the Starman comic. All three efforts should well help DC compete with Marvel online, especially since the release of the Daredevil streaming series last month.

Machinima boasted that it has grown to be the 9th largest video entertainment platform in the States, and it's teaming up with a wide variety of talent for its next stable of shows. The company also announced that horror icon Clive Barker is currently onboard to launch a web series about online urban legends. Titled Clive Barker's Creepy Pasta, the series will feature live-action adaptations of popular (if horrifying) viral stories like Slender Man and Jeff the Killer, all culled from the creepypasta community by Barker himself. Amazing Spider-Man 2 screenwriter Roberto Orci is also working on a show called High School 51, about a school hidden deep inside Area 51.

NEW ANIMATED JUSTICE LEAGUE: GODS AND MONSTERS CHRONICLES DIGITAL SERIES IN THE WORKS

Will tie into the upcoming Justice League: Gods & Monsters film.

17 SEP 2014 BY SCOTT COLLURA

A new digital three-part animated Justice League series is in the works from DC Entertainment, Warner Bros., and Machinima.

Variety reports that Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles will hit in spring of 2015 and will “revolve around a newly conceived reality in the DC Universe where Justice League members Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are much darker versions of the Super Heroes that people think they know.”

The series will be based on the animated film Justice League: Gods & Monsters, which is slated for 2015 and being executive-produced by DC cartoon legend Bruce Timm and co-produced by Alan Burnett. Chronicles will debut in the weeks leading up to the film and presumably will serve as a prequel to the main story.

The alliance between Machinima and Warner Bros. represents the first collaboration between the two since the latter invested in the former earlier this year. It also represents the first project from Warners’ new digital content production unit.

i don't think theres ever been a good digitally animated comic series...everything just looks stupid. Unless it looks like...BATMAN ARKHAM PS4 Prerendered status :camby:

but dc is batting 1.000 and pitching 1.23 with a .722 WHIP at the SAME DAMN TIME so i have faith :lawd:
Look who's producing it according to the article. Same folks who produced the DCAU/Timmverse and the DC Universe Animated Original Movies.

:banderas: So you know it's gonna be good.

Normally I'd be kinda nervous about it being digitally animated, but Timm pretty much never disappoints so I have high hopes.

Sounds like it will be used as a set up to the JL: Gods and Monsters movie so it is more than likely to be done in a similar animation style.

“Ever since we announced the Warner Bros. strategic investment, we have been looking for a new and exciting way to tap into the company’s unmatched content. With Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, Machinima will be the very first place fans can experience a new vision for DC Comics’ beloved Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman characters. In addition, we have built a first-of-its-kind package for brands to engage with these characters to reach Machinima’s elusive audience,” stated Chad Gutstein, Machinma’s CEO.

“We are committed to delivering DC Entertainment’s extensive line-up of world-class characters and stories to audiences across all platforms and formats,” adds DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson. “Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles is an exciting opportunity to bring alternate versions of DC Comics’ iconic Justice League characters to Machinima, and we look forward to bringing this new animated shortform series to life with our partners across Warner Bros.”

Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles explores a newly conceived reality in the DC Universe where Justice League members Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are much darker versions of the Super Heroes that people think they know.
