Hov understands it's a process. New artists got limited access to the king. You want more access, you gotta win. He did the same thing with Cole. Now Cole is winning and doesn't even seem to care to have a Hov feature or cosign.

A lot of shyt fails because people expect a handout. Look at Aftermath and how their artists often can't operate without Dre. They get him on beats, features and say his name in every interview. Then the album doesn't come out, they're dropped, they have nothing etc. Contrast to Kendrick who never begged for shyt, got one Dre feature and did everything else on his own with TDE.

i remember jay saying something about this before.. he said he didn't like hopping on his artists singles and music.. he'd do it at first, but even then it was rare it was the first single.. then on other albums, it definitely wasn't. then he pointed out 50 cent.. how every artist he put out, he was doing the first single, then a few more tracks on their album. so every major hit, sounded like a 50 cent record. he predicted that would quickly burn shyt out with him and them and the public.

jay always been on some "stand on your own" shyt

Hov did the exact same shyt tho

all first and second generation Roc-A-Fella singles/albums..etc. featured Jay-Z

even a ton of Roc Nation/post-Roc acts too

he was on Hustlin with Ross....Umbrella, Rihanna, Saigon, Cole's album.

Dont be fooled, Hov supported damn near everyone....he just did it on his terms.

Also, 50's artists all garnered a cult following.
