Violence broke out Tuesday, Aug. 20 during a scheduled Lil’ Durk concert performance at Skully’s Music Diner & Bar in Columbus, OH.
Footage surfaced online, shot by Columbus native @FuzzTatted, showing Lil’ Durk, born Durk D. Banks, attempting to diffuse a crowd situation, repeatedly telling patrons to “chill” and to instead enjoy themselves and “turn up.”
The hostility in the crowd heightened and Durk was subsequently assaulted after being hit with a barstool.
Gunshots can later be heard going off.
The “Dis Ain’t What You Want” rapper was in town for a performance set up by WRMG and Chi City event management team.
Lil’ Durk is no stranger to controversy. The OTF rapper, who hails from the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, is currently out on bond and battling a weapons charge.
Durk’s legal woes began after police reportedly saw the Def Jam rapper pitch a stolen handgun in the backseat of a parked Hyundai Sonata in June, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
A convicted felon, Durk’s recent legal troubles happen to be his second consecutive gun charge following his initial release from prison. The alleged crime occurred during Durk’s probationary period from the first charge.
“I’m still going to court for it, fighting it,” Lil’ Durk said during an interview with Mikey T The Movie Star. “I had to do my parole time for my last gun case. This my second gun case.
“…They found out I was on parole still. You know you get caught another gun on parole, they give motherf*ckers four, five years. They thought they had me, I ain’t going,” he added.
Durk is currently prepping the release of his solo debut EP as a Def Jam artist. The project “Signed To The Streets” will be hosted by DJ Drama and is slated to drop Sept. 17.
