Shoemaker (Killeen, Texas) sophomore Kendell Jones has perhaps the most flattering nickname for a high school defensive tackle: Hulk.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound sophomore has emerged as a blue-chip recruit in the class of 2016 thanks to a fine tenth-grade campaign that has seen him register 21 tackles and four sacks while drawing near-constant double teams.
According to his head coach Channon Hall, Jones' nickname was born of his prodigious frame at such a young age.
"The name 'Hulk' came about because of his physical attributes. To be so young, he is built similarly to the Hulk, so one of my assistant coaches nicknamed him that," Hall told MaxPreps.
As a 14 year old freshman, Jones bench pressed 380 pounds, squatted 520 pounds and runs a 5.2 40-yard dash.
The Hulk already has an offer from Texas in his clutches, according to Hall. Oklahoma, Baylor and Houston have shown interest but have yet to pull the trigger on an offer.
