Been a favorite since I heard it in 1999.....This is Jay at his best, kind of the end of an era for him, when the street shyt didn't sound forced, or like a distant recollection, brought back because he thought it was what the listeners wanted. This is like Reasonable Doubt level hustler memoirs, lyrics a little more direct, production modernized, but this is Jay at his best......

'I tried to play the hand you dealt me..but you can gave me 5 funnies, and shyt I was hungry I needed menage money....'

He sums up the game in that track.....

Edit:

@2manyFCKNrappers, I disagree, I liked it a lot upon it's release, and still appreciate it...but it's very forced in a lot of spots to me, despite some real standouts and Jay either just didn't have it, or didn't deliver content the same....Lacked grit and perspective, 'No Hook' comes close to the spirit of 'There's Been A Murder' though.

nah, by this time jays flow fell off and his voice changed, if he tackled this concept during the vol 1 sessions, it would've came out a lot better.
