See.

There are a lot of artists out here that people like to shyt on who have ACTUALLY proven themselves:

Big Sean.
Drake.
Wale.
etc.

but...theres this ONE guy who ALWAYS manages to deliver that C+, middle of the bell-curve bullshytt, that you always love to amp up to be more than what it is.

That's J Cole.

See, even though his first album was trash. (I seriously liked "Sideline Story." Song was smooth) we mostly gave him a pass.

Not since Too Deep For The Intro have I seriously been impressed with dude. He's had a few songs here and there, but nothing that blew me away.

Now you bring up this album and we again are living on MORE PROMISES of:

...what J Cole COULD be.

What J Cole...MIGHT be.

What J Cole...HAS THE POTENTIAL to do...

BUT...at some point you gotta judge a nikka by WHAT HE HAS DONE AND CONTINUES TO DO.

J Cole's entire discography is promoted by fans who always want to reject the mainstream but want THEIR guy to win.

Thats fine. And I'd love for him TO win. But he disappoints me ALL. THE. TIME.

If it wasn't for the Jay-Z cosign, J Cole would be rapping for "likes" on 2DopeBoyz or something with the rest of his actual peers (talent wise).

He's not built for this stuff. Other artists can do HIM better than HE can.

Its about time ya'll take a long and hard look at why ya'll are willing to go to bat for this guy after proven and consistent failures.

I like "let nas down"...I think.

I dunno if I can really argue with that

never been into him much myself but I'm surprised to see post-Jay co-sign how many people dig J. Cole but dont at all fukk with other n!ggas who are even better at his brand of hip-hop.

Not taking anything away from homey, he can rap... but is he really worth all of the hype?

Though I agree his debut was garbage and I haven't heard the new album (sounds like it leaked?) I fukk with his mixtapes and the truly yours duo pretty hard. Someone said cole makes bus stop rap and that might be true but I can dig it

he got 2 below average albums... off to a bad start. Definitely not rap elite. I like his music but he has been stagnant since Friday night lights. This new album is worse than the fist and bland is has to be his middle name. Just all around forgettable.

Nikka comparing him to Nas or even Kendrick and Krit when he more like Ace hood:wow:

Yeah, I guess you really "exposed" J. Cole... :heh:

Bruh, We know you just love Drake and hate for J. Cole to be getting any shine

Are you mad cause he doesn't hang out in the same circles ask Drake, Big Sean, Wale and constantly make collab songs with same people over and over again.

You don't even see J. Cole fans saying that his first album is great.

He's not built for this stuff??? :russ:

Well if you mean his isn't built to be a Pop Star, you probably right. I doubt if he ever sees that type success and thats fine.... He is not for everybody, if you like club anthems and bunch of uptempo songs with 2-3 features on it. he probably isn't they type of artist you would enjoy...

But I still can't figure out why cats who don't like J. Cole are so mad that other people do??? :ld:

Who do you consider better at his style of music? Just curious.

For one? Big KRIT? Kendrick Lamar?

...cause J Cole's production is complete ass. He needs to stop self producing.

I like that one light-skinned dude who just got signed the other day. I forget his name. Starts with an L or something I think.

But I just feel he's easily replaceable.

J Cole can DEFINITELY rap. But he's not who he says he is, and he damn sure aint who everyone says he is.

Why you think I need to hear club anthems?

There are artists I listen to that will NEVER crack top 40. Thats fine.

But the problem is that I still want to hear their music.

J Cole has some interesting songs...but nothing I want to hear again.

THATS the issue.

I've got nothing wrong with "conscious" artists...but those artists make music I want to hear again.

being conscious alone won't mean shyt if the output is still subpar.

What has Sean Proven that Cole hasn't?

They both had 2 hits on thief lead albums

Both of the albums are considered disappointments.

Big Sean is a FAR more skilled rapper not just concept wise but dexterity.

If you listen to Sean's mixtape material and album cuts you know he only stunts on mainstream songs because HES BEEN THROUGH shyt.

You can't say hes not "educated" either.
