i know somebody gonna say prodigy or some bullsh1t like that save it.

eminem is just don't rhyme things perfectly he uses assonance slant rhyming.

because to him rhyming things perfectly limits you.

Perfect Rhyme:

– vowel sound is the same, consonants before the vowel sound are different, consonants after the vowel sound are the same:

Night/Bright/Light

Family Rhyme:

– vowel sound is the same, consonants before vowel sound are different, consonants after the vowel sound are phonetically related, meaning they sound similar, but are not the same:

Night/Type/Strike/Lied

(Lots of sonic texture here.)

Assonance Rhyme:

– vowel sound is the same, consonants before the vowel are different, consonants after the vowel are different:

Night/Life/Time/Rice

Nas is better at this. Not a better rhymer over all, but at rhyming words that don't rhyme. Word to the second verse on doo rags.

Elzhi's up there. His verse on Hiding Place is one of the most perfect examples of assonance rhyming.

Always thought Jay was the king of the forced rhyme.

Surprised by this thread. Em always hit me as the champ of multis, but more reliant on perfect rhymes than Nas or Jay.

nah if there is anybody that is the king of imperfect rhymes it's him example perfect rhymes are basically rhymes like these examples

cat hat bat rat tat wat
rob cob tob nob slob

etc

imperfect rhymes is exactly what it says rhymes that don't sound perfectly like something a little off about them example

perfect rhymes for say a word lime would be rhyme slime etc
a imperfect rhyme for lime would be nine shine line

because the thing with perfect rhymes is this everything after the syllable sound has to sound the same and the syllable has to obviously sound the same also
so rhyming lime with nine it sound similar but it don't rhyme perfectly

because the consonants don' match up perfectly one has lime has the m consonant and line has the n conosnant.

but the thing about rap is it don't have to rhyme perfectly in order for it to be rhyme

it just has to have the same rhythmic cadence and sound similar.

Assonance Rhyme:

– vowel sound is the same, consonants before the vowel are different, consonants after the vowel are different:

Night/Life/Time/Rice

Yep and it's quite amazing how well he pulled it off. Arguably one of the greatest featured verses of all time, IMO.

elzhi eminem big punisher 2pac nas rakim kool g rap and all the great rhymers use assonance and mix it up with perfect rhyme.

me personally i like when the rhyme setup is setup like this

internal rhyme =assonance end rhyme = perfect rhyme
internal rhyme = assonance end rhyme = perfect rhyme

like example

[Verse 1:]
Ayo, my (pen) and paper cause a chain re(act)ion
To (get) your brain re(lax)ing, a zany acting maniac in action

now pen and get don't rhyme perfectly but they are phonetically related they both have the
short i sound so they rhyme and lax don't rhyme perfectly either but they have the same short a sound and they have similar conosnants.
