My friends and family mock me for not having money at the moment as I decided to invest it all in the stock market.
My lady upset I spent the rent money on a stock I thought was a sure thing,as If I wouldn't have a backup plan.
I say that to say black people really need to expand our horizons,it's really a weakness of ours that we condemn people for what we don't understand,or whats unfamiliar. I've taken many L's as I am a new investor, but I've told them all about the wins and some have even seen. But all they seem to focus on is the L's I told them about.
I wasn't facing this type of criticism when I was losing money hand over fist off dice. We got people that risk jail, and losing their family selling ounces. Yet nikkas will turn around and ask them if they can get put on,but don't wanna hear shyt about no stocks.
Try not to get frustrated, they will come around once you hit big. To many black people, credibility is based on your bank account.
I know hiphop culture has managed to make it where we mostly salute the ones who land in jail.but I want to salute all the risk takers in the community who took a chance.
UPDATE:I ended up taking out my 401K that was a couple thou,I got into the riskier option calls and actually ended up turning that into $11,000 when greed got the best of me and I made bad decisions. God had to humble me because I was getting out of line. I am now back at square one around $2000. Hopefully this is an uplifting story of the power of investing, that Nike thread made me think of this, and I wanted to bring a story of hope from a real person. You can change your life dramatically if you make the right decisions and don't let your emotions get the best of you. You might want to play it safer and play the long game, and wait til we have a president who doesn't have diarhea of the mouth. Don't just listen to the naysayers, try it for yourself.
Also I will take this time to humble myself and apologize to my righteous attachment for making dispariging comments about her,she probably saw my gamblers personality and knew it would end badly the whole time. Also to the posters who told me the same thing about myself but I refused to see it and procceed with caution.
