how is this true when jrich & desmond mason followed up the next couple years with good contests?

Jrich was the truth but I'm salty that Kobe and Vince never went at it in a dunk contest. Kobe teased it at the 2002 All Star weekend that he and Vince had talked about it and Vince was talking about having the rim raised to 12 1/2 feet so that only REAL leapers would apply, but the shyt never happened. J Rich was underrated but I remember being hyped thinking J Rich would elevate his game in the regular season to another level and never did or do nasty dunks in game in situations that wasn't just fast breaks. I think J Rich game in season hurt his dunk contest status like Gerald Green for many years.

It's not J Rich fault nikkas like VC a lot more and ppl had a lot more expectations of VC due to his in game dunks then of course he crush the buildings but all the dunks VC did, we seen them before. They had good contests, but they don't have the longevity or historical effect that Carter has.
I know they were dynamic in their own right, but I doubt most people remember what they even did.
I'm sure more folk remember Carter's performance over than any of those.
Not to mention he had so many crazy in game moments after that contest (like the dunk over a 7 footer in the Olympics) that constantly reminded you he was the most prolific dunker of his time.

He was about the level of a runner-up or maybe winner in one of the weak years (any year after J Rich)
