And disparaging comments against gays, homosexuals, lesbians, queers, trans etc. et. al.

Let's be real, this whole Donald Sterling had me thinking about Kobe Bryant calling that ref a fakkit a few years back and it's eerily similar. :ehh:

Now that we've set a precedent with hate speech and we've realized that spiteful language that hurts a large group of people is unacceptable, I fully expect the commish to put homophobes front and center and to ban them for life from the NBA. :manny:

Then again that would probably mean that a large portion of the league would be banned for life but we've set the precedent now:umad:

how many time did kobe prevent gays from buying property? or tried to prevent them from coming to games?

There is a big difference between words and action.

may as well ban people for dropping 4 letter curse words according to your logic cuz saying fukk is disparaging to decent Christians.

being offensive with language and using your power and influence to discriminate are two different levels of misconduct.

He was essentially enforcing modern day jim crow. and you compare that to people with potty mouths?

I dunno. I do know that Kobe's words were incredibly hurtful to an entire community though. I'm not sure you felt it but when Donald Sterling was talking about blacks being sub-human and that he didn't want them at the game despite his own team being staffed by several negros I know it hurt the general black community. Hell, you could tell that by the backlash. A 500 hundred page thread on the coli in the span of several days? You know brehs were mad :upsetfavre:

This is what I'll never understand.

Why do black people feel the need to monopolize the struggle? To corner the market on oppression and suffering?

Fact is that there are many marginalized and burdened people in the world, though when it comes to uplifting their gay and homosexual brothers in sisters, those who fight essentially the same fight, people don't wanna help.

shyt makes no sense and is actually sorta embarrassing :snoop:

Actions and Words breh, there is a difference.

Would you rather a homeless person call you a ******?
Or a restaurant refuse you service for being black?

I'll give you a hint.

The first case is that homeless person's legal right and protected by the first amendment.
The second case is illegal.

Not similar. Donald Sterling is in a position of power and made remarks that bordered close to not letting people into a place of business. He is in an employer position.

Kobe had a history of being friendly to the gay community and immediately apologized for his actions. His actions were offensive, as he addressed, and it was clearly not meant in direct target to homosexuality and was spur of the moment.

You are reaching like crazy here.

When the Mozilla CEO made remarks against same sex marriage, he was forced to step down. I think any homophobic or xenophobic statements made by a person of power would be treated the same way by the NBA, who invests heavily in NBA cares commercials against gay slurs and in foreign markets.

This is a man who used his power and influence to enforce a policy of discrimination and you are comparing it to little more than name calling. :comeon:

I've heard people make the comparison to when kobe said fakkit so much the past few days. I don't know if it's people who just want to be contrarian, play the devil's advocate, or if they just want to be dumb. But the situations are far from comparable.
