Why listen to me? I worked at one of the biggest honda dealerships in the entire bay area. We had 25 sales people, commission was broke into 3 tiers. Top tier(top 8 sales people), mid tier(middle 8 sales people) and bottom tier(the remaining 8-10 sales people, it was like a rotating door in the car business, new people every month and people gone every month). Pretty much every month I was top tier, except the few months I just jacked off chewing sun flower seeds and making runs to the liquor store :obama:

I went from regular sales person, to internet department (the people who call you daily and email you every few weeks with promotions, which is done through an automatic system we just have to hit push) and then finally closer (the people you see in the office, who come out and finish the negotiation with you). You only become closer once you show you can 1. sell a decent amount of cars and 2. hold your nuts while negotiating and get as much possible profit out of the customer possible.

Things you need to know; each dealership is not connected to each other. Honda of El Cerrito(richmond) is not the same as Honda of Oakland. Matter of fact these 2 dealerships hate each other, and havnt traded cars with each other for years. Its the rap game, the dope game and the car game. When one of the higher up managers leave a dealership to another one its either all love, or all bad. Its not like other companies like a bank or verizon/att. Where you have corporate stores and resellers. Car business is ALL reselling. It might say Honda on the outside, but its really owned by Hendrick, or Penske or some local rich guy and they can give a fukk about the next honda dealership down the road.

Buying new is always better than buying used, if you have the credit for it. Less down payment required, better interest rate, better month terms, fresh warranties, just overall better. Buying used if you are like me and have fukked up credit ( :to: ) and still need a good car. But it is possible to get a lower monthly payment (between term/lower interest rate) on a new car that costs more than a used car.. its chess not checkers, you gotta look at more than just the big ass numbers on the window. That $17,999 2010 charger might end up costing you more than that $21,000 2012 new charger..

How to buy new:

1. You might as well get a separate email account for this, because each dealership has an internet department, and they will spam the fukk out of you with promotions.

2. If you are looking for a specific car (lets say honda accord), go to each honda web site that you think is worth driving to (in the bay area, theres pretty much a honda dealership in every city regardless of how big or small the city is). So for instance if you live in the bay area, go to the fairfield, vallejo, el cerrito, oakland, berkeley honda website and do the "get online quote" or "talk to internet specialist" or "talk to sales person" from the website. When you do this, your information you enter will be sent to a internet sales manager and he will distribute it to one of the internet sales people.

3. Click on the car you are looking for or a similar one and do the "quote" from the website. The internet department is looking for the quantity sales, not so much the quality sales, they are to do a lot of sales rather than squeeze profit out every customer because the dealership not just the sales people also has a quota to hit. The dealership gets a "kick back" if they sell so many cars in a year. Example, honda will give 2% back for every new/certified like used car the dealership sells, if the dealership hits their quota from Honda. This is huge, 2% of $15,000-50,000 over 1,000-2,000 cars is a lot of money back.

4. The reason you emailed all those dealerships is because every month car companies do incentives. You see them on TV "$2,500 cash back" but what they dont say is they stack with other incentives. Also between dealer cash AND the incentives you will get a crazy deal. We was selling brand new $18,500 MSRP(sticker price) civics for $15,800 and 0.9% interest rate :ooh: BUT most dealerships will hold back on the initial quote they email/call you with. Thats why you wanted to get a quote from all those dealerships, because lets say Honda Oakland says $16,200 but Honda El Cerrito says $15,800 but Oakland has the color you want and El Cerrito doesnt, you can email Oakland back saying El cerrito gave me a quote of $15,800 :birdman: and you can bet Oakland going to match that. Dont say something stupid though and try and make up your own number "well Honda el Cerrito told me $15,000" dealerships know what promotions are out there, the sales person is either gonna do 3 things 1. "well that sounds like a great deal, I would say you should go do that(because he knows you are full of shyt) 2. laugh.."good luck with that!" or 3. depending how old school they are tell you go fukk yourself.

5. When you get a quote from a dealership, make sure to ask if that includes accessories. What most(not all) dealerships do is tell you an amazing price but what they dont mention is when you get to the dealership thinking you are just going to pick up the car for that, is that they added $800+ accessories to the car and how they are important they are to you and tell you how the deal cant be done without buying them (we sold 3m film for the doors "so it doesnt scratch another car if you hit it with your door", wheel locks (even for the hub caps on civics

) , "premium" wax for the car (water repellent really..) and nitro fill for the tires. If a dealership tells you the price is with accessories included and the other dealerships tell you its that price + accessories , email the other dealerships back with the other quote and if they cant match it, then you found your best deal..

6. ASK FOR A OUT THE DOOR PRICE. Also ask for them to break it down with how it equals that price. If they say $21,000 out the door, but the car quote is $15,800.. theres some funny shyt in there, so make sure they break it down for you.

7. When you find the dealership you want to get the car from, do the credit check over the internet from their website. Why? Because this is the last line of foul business from the dealership. Dealerships get paid on points from interest. If they tell you got approved for 3.9% you really got approved for 0.9%. Always subtract 2% from the interest they quote you if your credit is good (especially 700+). Not everyone can get 0.9% obviously, but if you approve for a new car, you can almost always subtract 2% from the interest rate and thats your real interest rate. "Well we got you approved for 8.9%" nah I think I heard 6.9% play boi belee dat :birdman:

8. You owe NOTHING to these dealerships. DONT BE AFRAID TO WALK AWAY IF THEY ARENT GIVING YOU WHAT THEY QUOTED YOU OVER THE PHONE/EMAIL. They arent going to help pay YOUR bills. You get what YOU want and what YOU can afford. What one dealership wont do, another will...Do some research, some cars literally do not have much profit in them. Kelly Blue Book will tell you the invoice price of the cars, look at that as your measuring stick of negotiating. Just because it says $50,000 on the price tag doesnt mean theres $15,000 of negotiating room. People think the dealership is lying , but you cant come in buying a $17,000 brand new car thinking you can get it for $10,000 out the door

that means they would have to sell it to you for $7,500. Theres no $10,000 profit in a car, especially that price.

ill have to write how to buy used cars later, this shyt took me forever to write out

fukk a car payment! Especially if you have jacked up credit...you clearly are bad at paying back debt. Buy something used with cash.

*clearly*.

It couldn't be that someone lost their job, or went through a divorce, or foreclosed on a home in a bad economy, or got injured and racked up medical bills or anything. Clearly, you just suck at paying back debt.

I meant what I said the first time but thank you for a different point of view.

When I was younger it was fukk a car payment but then you get older, more responsible and other priorities where having a reliable car is just as important as having a good spot to live in..

I will give a write up for buying used as well.. but only from car lots, real car lots.. Not Nino "we dont credit check" luxury motors in the hood

as far as just full cash, im not the right person for that.. never personally seen a good ending experience from a $3,000 car with 250,000 miles on it :manny: but im not here to stop you from buyin them..

I think you can get a reliable used car without a payment but I do understand where you are coming from.

Wow this is amazing, I'm actually in the bay area and have been looking for a car. If I can pay all at once do you think it's still a bad idea to get a used car?
