One of the most Etherous lines in "Ether" was NaS telling Hip Hop and the World that Jay Z had OD'd on taking Biggie's lyrics. Sure Jay is probably the most guilty party having sampled over 30 Biggie lyrics in his career. On the Classic "What more can I say", Jay defended his use of Big's rhymes by saying he was only "Biggin up his Brother" and hood. Here's what Jay had to say about in an interview:

Well it's funny cause NaS himself probably shouldn't of said anything as he has taken multiple bars from Biggie's Book of Rhymes:

Biggie "Lord Have Mercy Jesus Christ He's just nice/he just slice like a ginsu, Look at what I been through" 93' (4 My Peeps)
NaS: "Lord Have Mercy Jesus Christ He's Just Nice/He Just slice like a ginsu, look at the life that I been through" 02' (Last Real nikka Alive)

Biggie "Biggie Smalls, The Millionaire, The Mansion" 94' (MSG Freestyle)
NaS: "NaS, The Millionaire, The Mansion" 06' (Can't forget about You)

Biggie "This Rap's Alfred Hitchcock" 97' (What's Beef)
NaS "Hitchcock of Hip Hop since Big Pop Departed" 04 (Message to the Feds)

Biggie "Old School New School Need to Learn though, I burn Baby Burn like Disco Inferno" 94 (Who Shot Ya)
NaS: "I'm tryin to kick that shyt you need to learn though, That Ether, that shyt that make your soul burn slow" 01' (Ether) (The song also samples the gunshots in Who Shot Ya)

Biggie: "Picture life as my wife, Just Think, Full Length Mink, Fat X and O Links"(Get Money)
NaS: "Picture Life as my wife, Just Think, Full Length sable seven carats in your navel" (Oh Yea, Oh Yea)

Biggie: "All The Planes We Flew, bytches we ran through" (Long Kiss Goodnight)
NaS: "All The Planes I flew, nikkas I ran Through" 04 (Live Now)

Biggie "On the road to riches and Diamond Rings" 95 (Westcoast Freestyle)
NaS "On the road to riches and Diamond Rings" 08 (****** Slave and the Master)

So the question that NaS should of asked isn't towards Jay but to Hip Hop in general. Sure Big is influential and a Legend but for someone with such limited material, why are his lyrics bitin so much. Sure some of it homage but now it's kinda getting ridiculous. XXL just recently did an article called "The Top 100 Biggie Bites". 100 Bitten rhymes? Really? and they didn't even get everything. On youtube 30 minutes of Biggie bites were posted, there are also 7 more videos that haven't been posted of Biggie bites. So I ask is Biggie the most bitten rapper of all time? The Evidence says he probably is:

if you had read any XXL issue since they started doing that that little Biting side bar you would know they had at least 2 or 3 Biggie lines from various artist every month.

i'm not buying that Alfred Hitchcock line as a bite either, Biggie isn't the only one to ever mention Hitchcock in a song.

yeah but as far as biting that particular line i don't really buy it. people call themselves the so & so of Hip Hop all the time does that mean any mention of that person is never allowed again because it's automatically biting?

Well he did reference "Big" right after saying the line. If anything it may have been more homage than a bite. I always thought X famous song "Stop Being Greedy" might have bitten Big:

Biggie: "I got enough to feed the Needy, no need to be Greedy" 94'
DMX: "Stop being Greedy, Keep it real partner, Give to the Needy" 98'

The thing I noticed is sometimes rappers won't bite word for word, but will take the flow and switch up a few words but Big was clearly the source.

Akinyele: "It was all a dream, I used to read playboy magazine" 99'

Big Pun: "It was all a scheme, I use to load a tech with the magazine" 00'

Mickey Factz: "It was all a Dream, I ain't still tryin to wake up, I use to read Billboard Magazine" 11'

"aint no other kings in this rap game they siblings":shaq:

Biggie is the most quoted rapper by his peers in hip hop history and if im wrong somebody show me different

Even if Pac was dissing Big, he still took the "Playa's Anthem" Flow cause even he knew "Playa's Anthem" was the anthem. "Hit em Up" also uses the same beat that was used on the "Get Money Remix":

"Grab your dikks if you love Hip Hop, Rub your tittes if you love Big Poppa"

"Grab your glocks when you see Tupac, Call the Cops when you see Tupac"

He clearly jack Big's flow on that. Look I'm a NaS fan but he did bite Big rhymes too, if anything After what he said on "Ether" he should of known not to do it but he did it anyway. In no way was it at the level of Jay. Jay is by far the worst offender but NaS did take quite a few.
