I can remember when showtime at the apollo was a show people planned their schedules around. It was a show where legit raw talent would come from all across the country to perform at for a huge black television audience. The hosts hosted (i'm not talking about them newer nikkas I.E. steve harvey..), keke sheppard was fine and the original sand man played his part.

It was almost a right of passage that performers had to participate in if they wanted to be in show buisness. The crowd was filled with real new yorkers/nikkas who honestly gauged the performances

Here's Lauryn Hill getting booed at 13

It was such an official show.........how did it fall off?

It got old and other shows came out. Plus it was targeted for black people mostly.
The shows success was based on the talent pool that came on it and the audience candid grading of that pool. The host and other staff were replaceable. Also, the show was targeted for blacks but the honkeys were all over it. This show was an accurate gauge of talent and whitey knew it. That's why you'd even see a few of them come to the show to get judged. The ones that did well were damn near shoe in's for record deals (honkeys with black approval)

So how did the show get old?

It got old to viewers. It was an old show. I didn't say the show got stale. It literally had been on for quite some time

and that was the beauty of it....

if it wasnt quality them nikkas boo'd.

Now you got these audiences that are on filled with suckers that will accept wackness or shyt they know isnt good because they dont want to hurt feelings....FOH.....this one of the main things that made apollo the apollo.

The more i think of teedot saying it simply got old the more annoyed i get at it. That's like saying that if Martin had been the same quality show it was when it came out it would have eventually fallen off simply because it got older. That's not true at all. It fell off cause the quality fell off.

Those shows aren't even built the same so it's no comparison.
