I can't remember who but someone else made a thread on a similar subject regarding the parallels between slavery and the major sports in America. It's a very interesting discussion to have especially when you factor in how many White people feel about Black folks outside of the entertainment aspect. Cheer for the Black athlete when he's on the field but if he's wearing a hoodie and walking towards you, outside of the stadium, cross the street, lock car doors, etc.

Pennies compared to what the owners/league makes.
"pawgs" only care about them b/c they're super successful. The moment they're no longer useful they're discarded and left mentally and physically ill.
same thing with the adoration - it's only there when the player is on top. the moment he starts to underperform or do anything to their disliking, they're out.
