1947. Evidently, George got propositioned by some Time Travelers to become Emperor, but realized they planned on taking over the planet. He got some help from Captain America, the Fantastic Four & The Blonde Phantom and foiled their plot thus, keeping the current timeline intact.

would be impossible in 1947

I would imagine the throne would become more of a symbolic body much like that of England.

Congress would look the same, and the Speaker of the House would be much more influential (i.e. the British Prime Minister)

If anything, I think individual states would have much less rights. The Civil War would most likely have played out differently.

england would have been better off if america remained a colony, but people in cali would still be living in new spain and people in NO would be living in new france because france would have never sold anything to england and the british or french would have left spain alone and the lower 13 colonies would have just merged into canada
