I'm about a month in. I usually wake up and twist with a little curl spray and that's about it.
Is there anything I should or should not be doing?

I started mines back in April and mines are growing graciously, if you're planning on doing it completely organic like Bob Marley or The Weeknd then you should stop picking with your hair and stop spraying it, it'll probably cause build up.

All i do is lay on my hair, if you keep twisting it and picking at it it'll only interrupt the natural matting. That's literally all you have to do for 3-4 yrs, after about 2-3 months after you stop combing your hair you'll start feeling the dreads form and you'll have tight coils all over your head like corbin bleu, they'll later grow into dreads if you leave them alone.

When i wake, before i go out i wet the sides with water and finger comb before i go out, i shampoo it every 2-3 day's so i don't wash out all the natural oils unless i've been sweating all day. When washing try to avoid touching the coils and scrub the scalp directly or soak your hair, stop using conditioner, shampoo only. You're gonna have to pat dry or air dry your hair to avoid interrupting the free form process.

I also moisturize with natural Coconut Oil to avoid dandruff problems, you can find it at the grocery store next cooking oils for around $4.99. It also has a shyt load of other natural uses (oil pulling, healing scars, eczema, etc...). Coconut oil is good for your body in genral, completely edible also so you can cook with it too.

Find myself twisting daily because my hair is short and it looks :flabbynsick: when I wake up in the morning.
Should I not do that, and if not how often should I be retwisting?

Cut it out, it'll only make the process longer. Last time i had a hair cut was sometime in march, and the last time i combed my hair was in april and it's 1/3rd of july as of today. When i wake up i always wake up looking like this:

You can get a Shape up and a taper/fade if your hair looks that bad or just wear a hat like me, you're going to be looking like a bum for a while if you plan on free forming.

I'm assuming you're black, if not you may to look up tips for your grade of hair. For us Africans the friction from when you sleep will cause your hair to tangle up naturally and all you have to do is let your hair grow. It's gonna be about 2-3 years before you start seeing any REAL results, so if you plan on free forming you're going to have to have patience.

If you can't find the patience you can do semi free form, which is where you get your hair twisted traditionally and stop maintaining them, and let your hair take control from that point. It'll probably look like this:

Me personally im doing the "neglect" method, my hair looks like this currently:

I started with lil twists and id only get my hair twisted every 5-8 months. Its been 4 years now and I'd post a pic but Im lazy so Ill just use an instagram pic instead. I really dont do shyt cept let em grow.

If you want free form you gotta just say fukk it and not give a fukk because youre going to look like an idiot for a good two years.

Sparking blunts in the shade.
I've decided to go with this hairstyle. I'm thinking about growing a fro and then separating it into squares where I want dreads to form like baby girl in this video
