Here is some pictures from my church's "Back to School" kick off. Not all pastors take money and buy cars. Not all churches are leeches. Some do actually use the money to help out those in need. And this is in the hood of Detroit. The way some of yall bash the church, I'm sure this will be a shock since yall buy into that stereotype.

Free school supplies.

Horse rides

Petting zoo (llamas)

Face painting

Free food

Free clothes

Now are there pimp preachers, leeching churches? Yes, but not every church is like that as you can see. There are plenty of churches in Detroit who are doing the same thing.

Ay op that's beautiful but dont let these elitist atheist get to you. They know religious people put in work in their communities and been doing it for centuries. They purposely point out the pimps and leeches while at the same time ignoring the heros like Bishop Henry McNeal Turner,Elijah Muhammad and the rest like them. My point is not a pat on back. My point is that some people believe the stereotype of the mega church, pimp preacher mentality. And it's not true. Some of us actually do stuff for the community.

You don't have to school me on churches breh.. I grew up religious.. I know the type of work the church puts into the community.. But the amount of cash these mega churches generate in comparision to the community churches that actually care about helping their communities... Nah.. They deserve the heat they get for that shyt.. Only mindless sheep would ever think allowing a pastor a private jet is OK..

Well, this thread wasn't aimed at you. As the title stated it for those who state that the black church does nothing for the Black community. Not everybody had your experience to see a balance. It's like stereotype about Black people. It's actually some white people who believe all Black people are lazy, uneducated niguhs. That's all they see on tv, wshh. Same thing with the church. Alll they see is the prosperity churches on tv, so that's what they think church is. I don't disagree on mega churches and mindless sheeps. Jets. In total agreement. But not everybody on here, has had your experiences. That's whom this thread is aimed at.

With the money they generate year round, doesn't this seem a bit minuscule? If I'm getting 10% or more of your money and giving you back 1% i don't think any of you would call me generous or praise me for it.

Isn't that assuming that this is the only outreach that we do? If so, that's not true. We have a ongoing food pantry where people come to use hungry begging for food. Everytime they see a car in the parking lot, they're there asking for food. We do a once a month, dinner for the poor (and poor doesn't mean they don't have a home. Many poor in Detroit have jobs, phones, etc. But can't afford to feed themselves).

Now, does our money go towards the building, musicians, internet, the pastor salary. Yes, but that's with any non profit. We can't go to electric company and sing Gospel songs and think they'll give us the connect. It cost money. Same with lawn service, water. How else do you have these services without people giving money? Any other non profit and no one brings these things up. We recognize logically it takes money to do ministry. Now, if a church is abusing that and using it as a scheme for greed. Then yes, it should be criticized.

I know what churches do breh. Just because you have year round food pantry but that has nothing to do with the money. That food is donated by different orgs then given to the people. It's good i guess but that had nothing to do with what i said. I'm sorry but i highly doubt your bills aren't covered by AT LEAST the middle of the month. I'd like to see the finances of your church to better judge though because it always seems a bit
