This is the third installment of the "Exposing The Frauds" series in which I attempt to highlight the similarities between the chart topping hit record, "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars and MULTIPLE songs from various artists. The songs that I highlight in this particular video are "More Bounce To The Ounce" by Zapp & Roger, "Jungle Love" by Morris Day & The Time, "Jam" by Michael Jackson, "Oops Upside Your Head" by The Gap Band, "All Gold Everything" by Trinidad James and "Rapper's Delight" by The Sugarhill Gang.

I do not own the rights to any of the music used in this video.

i don't like the song but i thought half the point was to pay homage to that entire genre :yeshrug: i don't see Nokia & Samsung paying money to the family of Alexander Graham Bell. at a certain point you can't keep crying about stealing, it becomes influence but that doesn't mean they have to pay like a sample. should Mystikal & Mark Ronson pay James Browns family royalties because of that song?

Yeah, thought this was pretty damn obvious as soon as I heard this song. It's a blatant, lazy jack of good music that doesn't improve upon or switch up the OG versions at all. And if anyone actually knows music, they can hear this shyt off the bat. It's watered down, derivative garbage. Like watching a high school talent show or something. Mainstream culture is so despicable. Appreciate you taking the time to break this shyt down for those unfamiliar with all this music.

Everything is a version of, an interpolation of, or heavily inspired by something else. Some are better, many are worse, some are equal and just new.

But breaking any music down like this would yield similar results, and is inherently bad for the art, imo.

dude changes the key & tempo. i'm pretty sure you could do that with probably thousands of songs if you change it enough then it will sound similar or straight jacked. like i said before the whole point of this song was to make a generic easily recognisable old school funk song. the average pop fan isn't going to know about Morris Day & The Time or Zapp. it's def derivative & unoriginal but to say they owe money is silly IMO. that "Uptown funk you up" line he says at the end is an OBVIOUS homage to the Gap Band song, he makes excuses for other bands in the past who have "taken a style and made it their own" but all of a sudden because it's Mark Ronson it's "stealing"?
