2 brothers killed in South Side shooting - chicagotribune.com

Two brothers were shot dead this afternoon when an argument turned violent in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side.

A 20-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were shot to death about 5:05 p.m. in the 9000 block of South Racine Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.

A Des Plaines man was arrested after he paid $3,000 cash to two undercover federal agents posing as hit men in order to have as many as six people killed, authorities said Thursday.

Investigators seized about $45,000 in cash and a gun from Zenon Grzegorczyk, 49, when he was taken into custody Wednesday on the Northwest Side after handing over the initial payment.

Grzegorczyk had offered to pay to have six acquaintances of his ex-wife killed -- at $5,000 a piece -- shortly before a wedding scheduled next month, authorities said.

Grzegorczyk will be held in custody until a detention hearing on Monday. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the murder-for-hire plot.

Two women and a girl police believe to be sisters were stabbed in a fight stemming from an “ongoing neighborhood dispute” in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The incident occurred near 79th Street and Colfax Avenue about 9:25 p.m. Thursday, police said

The three victims, who live in the 7700 block of South Kingston Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood, had gotten into an argument with a man and a woman about 17 or 18 who are not in custody, police said.
