The NBA preseason has arrived in Memphis
The Grizzlies’ first preseason game is rapidly approaching, as we will be able to see them play against the Bucks on Wednesday. It feels like a long time since any NBA action has taken place, but the time has finally come.
Some people might not consider preseason basketball the most exciting time of the year, but it gives us an opportunity to look at some younger players. We can also get a feel for how the team will gel as a unit and whether or not chemistry will be strong going into the year. You can expect that to be the case, as most of the team’s veterans have stayed in Memphis.
Players to especially watch will be rookies Jordan Adams and Jarnell Stokes. I think we will get to see that Stokes is an NBA ready backup–in limited minutes–and he should shine throughout the preseason. Adams will hopefully stand out as well. He has dropped weight, which was one of the Grizzlies’ bigger concerns going into the season. If he can get his stroke going, then he might be able to work his way into the rotation.
The opponent, being the Bucks, are a team in rebuilding mode, and most of their players are younger. Getting to see how they play isn’t necessarily beneficial for the Grizzlies, since Milwaukee is in the Eastern Conference. It is however a good first preseason game, as the Bucks aren’t overloaded with talent. Although, Jabari Parker and
Giannis Antetokounmpo should be fun to watch since they both have a lot of potential.
Even though this is the preseason, it is our first chance to see the Grizzlies in a real game setting. You can expect to see strong team play, as well as the trademark defense that has become a staple in Memphis.
It’s time Memphis fans. The NBA is back, and your Grizzlies are back in action.
