Before ya'll nikkas lose ya mind, hear me out. Assuming the Cavs don't pull off any blockbuster trades this off-season, I think LeBron will be traded.

LeBron James knows his basketball clock is running out. He will not let himself play the 2017-18 season with the same crew the Warriors ran off the court. I believe that after its obvious the Cavs can't trade Kevin Love for another star, LeBron will let Daniel Gilbert know that he won't resign in 2018. Rather than losing him for nothing once again, Gilbert will attempt to trade LeBron. I think LeBron will lift his no-trade clause for the right team because he doesn't want to lose a year in his prime on a team he knows has zero chance to win a ring. LeBron will be 33 this upcoming season. He knows his basketball clock is running out. He knows he can't waste anymore seasons on a team he knows will be nothing more than a sacrificial lamb in the finals for the Warriors.

Since I don't think the Cavs will land someone like Paul George, I think LeBron will privately demand a trade and Dan Gilbert will oblige.

You need a mental evaluation

Tell me the flaw in that logic? You think LeBron wants to play another year with Kevin Love knowing all its gonna get him is as another butt raping by the Warriors? LeBron James will be 33 years old this year. He isn't in the business of waiting out a year with a team that can't compete for a championship.

LeBron is smart. He knows a trade will be an easier out for him than leaving Cleveland in free agency once again.

I think he'll get too much backlash if he leaves this year. Its kinda like what Durant did.

Give him a year and he might join the Wizards or Knicks or Something. He definitely would be crazy to go out west.

Not if its a trade. KD left in free agency. That was his choice and his choice alone. In this case, LeBron would be getting traded because he wouldn't commit to coming back in 2018. And Gilbert would be the one trading him because he doesn't want to lose him for nothing in 2018.

The LeBron camp could spin this as a Dan Gilbert move because LeBron wouldn't give up his right to test free agency in 2018.

OP not everything that pops up in your mind thread-worthy :heh:

This one is because I think there is a good chance it happens. Dan Gilbert is crazy enough to do it. And LeBron is cunning enough to allow him.

Its actually best for both parties to trade LeBron this year if they can't trade Love for another star. LeBron will almost certainly leave Cleveland high and dry next year and Gilbert can't afford that. And LeBron can't afford to waste another year as he turns 33 later this year.

Its a lose-lose situation for both Dan Gilbert and LeBron if they let this play out until 2018 when they both know there is little chance LeBron returns to Cleveland.

I don't think it will be this off-season bc there really isn't anywhere for him to go. Plus him, George, and Westbrook all have 2018 player options.

Will LeBron eventually leave Cleveland? Most likely, but it won't be through force. The rumors are already swirling about his departure so strong arming a trade kills all of the finesse for next year's move.

LeBron has all the leverage and he doesn't like/respect Dan Gilbert. So he will leave and give the Cavs nothing save for a courtesy heads up.
