So ladies & gentleman, I came up with this idea while away from the coli & I wanted to make this topic a thread.

At the moment I only have a couple recommendations for our peoples kids, but I would like the community to take time to come together & drop some knowledge for our kids/future kids.

I plan on updating the O.P. as well with the recommendations given.

Recommended Studies
1. Hidden Colors Vol 1-3

2. Malcom X interviews

3. Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters

4. The Anansi folktales

8. Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

9. Invisible Man by Ralph Elison

In light of idiots thinking that good grades are more important than kindness, I think Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters is an important book for our babies.

Will add to OP :salute:

Why do you recommend this book tho?

For younger kids: the Anansi folktales, The Friends by Rosa Guy

For teenagers: Black Boy and Native Son by Richard Wright, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Invisible Man by Ralph Elison, The opinions and philosophy of Marcus Garvey, Thomas Sankara speaks, the writings of Kuwasi Balagoon (Kuwasi Balagoon | The Anarchist Library)

We should try to avoid as much Hotep, Hebrew, Christian, Islamic stuff as possible, we have a rich history in Niger-Congolese Afrika as it is.

Hotep's stuff that places too much emphasis on Egypt/North East Afrika, and by extension the Moors and Ethiopia, Black Americans are Niger-Congolese as oppossed to Bantu, Semetic, etc.

OP it would be a good idea to separate books by grade level. For example Black Boy, Invisible Man, Native Son, and Things Fall Apart are grades 9-12.

I would recommend Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and it's sequel Let the Circle Be Unbroken. These are books about racism in America during the Great Depression, and they are for grade levels 5-9.

One of my friends really loved Their Eyes Were Watching God, when she was in high school. However, the reading level is fairly high due to the dialect used, so it's 10-12th grade level.

With all books, it is better if the parents reads it along with their children, so they can discuss what happens in the book. Even if this is not a school book it helps.
