I have always found that argument to be a backhanded slap at black people. As if we as a race are so destitute that there is no black middle class, none of us are going to college, etc. I've never been to a city that didn't have a collection of well off and/or middle class blacks, OR a collection of college aged blacks (graduate students or not). It plays into an ugly stereotype and I can't stand it.
I know plenty of black people with good jobs, an education, etc. I know black people who are lawyers, doctors, teachers, etc. Not every black person knows successful black people obviously, but I'm going to assume that her artsy/writer ass sure as hell knows some eligible black men (and women). fukkouttahere...
