Most of Brooklyn is just becoming an extension of Downtown Manhattan.
There is no space left downtown, so they are all pushing towards Brooklyn as the next logical step.
Those same people are also moving into Harlem and Washington Heights quickly, with Inwood not too far behind. It's crazy the amount of change I see every single time I go up there.
I'll give you guys a quick example out of that 168th street station...
You had a "Banco Popular" out there, which has been replaced by a "Bank of America"
"Johns Fried Chicken" and "Crown Fried Chicken" had to go, "Popeye's" is in there now
Chipotle and Starbucks have moved into Washington Heights
MetroPCS and small cell phone shops recently had to move out of spots, what pops up? Sprint and T-Mobile and I think the Verizon store is still out there.
"Bravo" Supermarket I think closed up last time I checked, I expect a Kroger/Target or something similar out there in no time.
I would assume some one of those bodeges anywhere from 168th-179th street will be replaced with a 7-11 soon. I can't even imagine what the bus terminal off the GW Bridge is going to look like once its finally cleaned up and ready to move in.
A couple of local pizza shops closed up, Lil Caesars, Dominos, and Papa Johns all have locations in the heights now.
The entire landscape of Manhattan and Brooklyn is changing rapidly. it almost feels like a different neighborhood from what I grew up in, but I am in my 30's now
