I love Ali. Even tho he dropped some knowledge I feel the conversation was lacking in getting personal. Was more about him giving a history lesson.

It only started to get personal when he started to recite lyrics and started rapping. I would love to hear Ali talk more about his personal experience with spirituality and faith.

Still dope tho.

When you know Ali you know what he was saying was very personal to him. That shyt mans a lot to him, W.D Mohammad was a mentor to him and was kind to him. Elijah, W.D, Malcolm, Muhammad Ali, all these people were inspirations to Ali. That's part of his community in a sense, orthodox Islam also mixed in with people from N.O.I, 5% Nation and different branches of Islam, a lot of people see them as brothers due to the common bond they share religiously, even if the branches are different. Many don't see that, they just see Islam and Allah. It was more about things that are very important and significant to him rather than like an autobiographical run down, I can understand how people would like a more personal interview in that sense too, I wouldn't be opposed to that at all either but I love what we got here because it was very educational to many who may not know and about topics that are close to his heart, he also did drop personal things in there, for instance regarding the conflict of being a muslim artist and the swearing etc, his conversations with Wallace Deen Mohammad, thing with his son and sons mother and the supportiveness of the community. Hearing Ali give this talk also is doing exactly what Malcolm X said white people should do as an ally, even though the times were different then and though it's clearly a multi racial audience but he's giving the perspective and will reach people others may not be able to reach. This was very inspiring for me to hear, as often is when I hear Ali talk or his music. All my personal interactions with him have always been highly positive too, he is very humble, he is a good dude and a credit to Hip Hop and humanity as a whole. He is still growing but so is everybody.

Yeah I understand where he is coming from and the "story" probably fitted the Muslim audience he was talking to much better then for me as an non Muslim.

It was cool and I learned stuff I didn't know. I would just have loved to hear him talk about his personal relationship with god or some of the teachings more.

I'm not a muslim either but I found it very interesting cause that's a fascinating period within black history and history in itself, even in Hip Hop history because a lot of those people were huge influences upon Hip Hop and it's artists. To hear how Brother Ali almost came from that lineage in a sense was very interesting to me. It says a lot about his music, view point and why he's the way he is. And another thing that came across to me was sincerity, he's sincere about his faith, about his principles and world view perspective. Having also a personal interest in the area as have done masses of research on Malcolm X and those other areas hearing him talk about it and be so well informed and sincere was dope, but not surprising cause already knew Brother Ali was the truth and isn't faking it. That's fair enough, I'm sure Ali will have more of that kind of stuff around cause he's a very open dude. In his music he's bared his soul and that's 1 of the things that gives it it's qualities, spirituality and authenticity. Fantastic artist, great human being, positive HipHoppa, no surprise he is highly respected by the likes of Rakim, Chuck D and them.

organized religion (in this case islam) :scusthov:

I can't say I'm religious in that sense to any specific religion but in this case some of the effects of it have been positive for Ali. Religion and spirituality is such a personal thing that I don't like to criticise those personal choices unless it's like Satanism or something lol. Anywhere there's more to this than just the religious aspect anyway and far more to Ali too.
