The visuals were a bit corny to me, but the lyrics are :patrice:

The whole song is a "fukk You" to a public holiday and the flag too. :gladbron:

January 26 is "Australia Day", and has been basically like Christopher Columbus Day wrapped up with the Fourth of July in Australia. It's been used by White Supremacists to go off on their bullshyt against Australian Aboriginals and non-White immigrants for some time now. A.B. Original titled the album "Reclaim Australia" (another White Supremacy slogan) and the first single was 2 Black 2 Strong. This was the second.

A.B. Original - January 26

[Hook: Dan Sultan & Briggs]
You can call it what you want
But it just don't mean a thing
No, it just don't mean a thing
fukk that, homie
You can come and wave your flag
But it don't mean a thing to me
No, it just don't mean a thing
fukk that, homie

[Verse 1: Briggs]
They said, "Hey Briggs, pick a date" (okay)
"You know, one we can celebrate" (for sure)
"Where we can come together (yeah)
Talk about the weather, call that Australia Day"
I said, "How about March 8th?" (that's a good one)
And we can do it on your Nan's grave (got that bytch!)
We can piss up, piss on her face
Get lit up and burn out like Mark Skaife
They screaming "love it or leave it" (love it!)
I got more reason to be here, if you could believe it
Won't salute a constitution or who's underneath it
Turn that flag to a noose, put a cease to your breathing
I can't get in my whip, I get a ticket for that
I get a DWB, and that's a "Driving Whilst Black"
I turn the other cheek, I get a knife in my back
And I tell 'em it hurts, they say I overreact
So fukk that (fukk that!)

[Hook: Dan Sultan & Briggs (Trials)]
You can call it what you want
But it just don't mean a thing
No, it just don't mean a thing
(Hey Briggs!) fukk that, homie
You can come and wave your flag
But it don't mean a thing to me
No, it just don't mean a thing

[Verse 2: Trials]
I said celebrate the heretic anytime outside Jan. 26 (anytime)
That's the date for them suckers doing that sucker shyt (that's true!)
That's that land taking, flag waving attitude
Got this new Captain Cook dance to show you how to move (move it!)
How you wanna raise a flag with a rifle
To make us want to celebrate anything but survival?
Nah, you watching tele for The Bachelor
But wouldn’t read a book about a fukkload of massacres? (what?!)
I remember all the blood and what carried us (I remember)
They remember twenty recipes for lamingtons (yum)
Yeah, their ancestors got a boatride
Both mine saw them coming until they both died
fukk celebrating days made of misery (fukk that)
While Aus still got the black history (that's true)
And that shirt will get you banned from the parliament
If you ain't having a conversation, well then we starting it

[Hook: Dan Sultan & Briggs]
You can call it what you want
But it just don't mean a thing
No, it just don't mean a thing
fukk that, homie
You can come and wave your flag
But it don't mean a thing to me
No, it just don't mean a thing

[Bridge: Dan Sultan & Trials]
No, it just don't mean a thing
Nah, it just don't mean a thing
No, it just don't mean a thing
Nah, it just don't mean a thing
No, it just don't mean a thing
Nah, it just don't mean a thing
No, it just don't mean a thing
Nah, it just don't mean a
Mother—fukkin' thing

No, it just don't mean a thing

[Outro: Briggs & Trials]
Wave it, wave it baby
Wave it, wave it, eat the flag
Wave it, wave it mama
Wave that flaggy wear the flag
Wave it, wave it baby (what you gonna do?!)
Wave it, wave it, wave it baby!
Wave it, wave it mama
Wave that flaggy

Aboriginal? They look like cacs... That whitening program damn sure worked.
Exactly! There aren't even any pure Aborginies left, all been blended out. Playing a digeridoo or spot painting don't make you aborigine.

I remember I was in a restaurant and the famous sprinter Cathy freeman, who was an outspoken pro aborigine athlete sat next to me.

Australia
The rest of the album is pretty dope too. Briggs is basically the Aussie Ice Cube circa 1991 and Trials is one of the best producers in the country as well as an aboriginal pioneer of Aussie Hip Hop as part of the group the Funkoars (like an Aussie Alkaholiks) neither of them are THE ripest MCs as far as Multics and flows and all that but they're both dope and making some of the best and most important music in the last few years.

The Australia Day thing has been brewing for a long time now, most aborigines see it as "invasion day" and many people think it should be moved to another day and renamed.

Briggs is Yorta Yorta
Trials has a Ngarrindjeri dad and a Welsh mom
Dan Sultan has an Irish dad and a Arrernte/Gurindji mom. I didn't know who he was before the video and thought he was White at first too.

Not all aboriginals were jet Black and then there was the mixing too. At least Briggs and Trials consider themselves Black though and have repped that their whole careers. The A.B. in "A.B. Original" stands for "Always Black".

All three of them are proud though and rep their background hard. I ain't fronting on them at all because if you know recent history in Australia, mixed families had it really rough, and there's a lot of racism still there. If one of your parents is from the culture and you are willing to represent the culture, I think you have every right to represent it.

Especially when you're going as hard on White Supremacy as they're doing right here. :whew:

The album is called 'Reclaim Australia' - its mocking a racist movement of white people who hate Muslims. Aboriginal people stress that sovereignty was never ceded to the British colonisers - hence, they 'reclaim' Australia. The album is great - strong West Coast influence, like the dude above says. And it's full of lyrics about racism in Australia, etc.

as for skin colour - google the 'stolen generations'. For decades, it was government policy to take Aboriginal children of mixed descent from their families and raise them in white homes so they'd assimilate, and wouldn't know anything about their families, culture etc.
