This is already out. I didn't buy it because those idiots at Tower records stocked a whole bunch of CD but no cassettes! Do they think everyone buys CD's now?

I agree! 'The Chronic' is THE most overrated album of the year. When
>>> I first bought it (a few days after its release) I thought it was awful... I
>>> could barely get myself to listen to the whole tape. However, after awhile
>>> I grew to like a few songs on the first side...but the entire second side is
>>> crap.

This guy talking about tribe..

I first heard it two weeks ago on the Mighty King Tech Wake Up Show and while I liked it, I was still ga ga over SOM. Well, I¹m still on a SOM craze, ³93 Til...² is the sh*t for 93 but I picked up ³Award Tour² on 12² and I¹ve been spinning it like crazy and I can¹t front: ATCQ does it again, the sh*t is F A T, F A T, F A T. The intro is a four bar instrumental of a syntesized organ or flute (whatever)...into the fourth bar the drums drop in, with each beat getting louder: bap, Bap, BAP, BAP! ³We on award tour...² Yeah!!! It¹s simple, but the energy it builds makes you wanna get up and throw your hands in the air.

I love hip hop!

I mentioned this before, but this is NOT ³Low End Theory² type music, obviously, ATCQ has shifted their style since Œ91. I still think that the track is similiar in sound to De La¹s new stuff or at least is very reminiscent to the DITC sound which includes: Diamond, Showbiz, Large Professor, Pete Rock, etc. (who all shop for beats together.) This doesn¹t mean that the sh*t ain¹t hype, but with a new LP from Large Professor due out in December (supposedly) and all the tracks that PR, Showbiz and Diamond do, I don¹t know if ³Midnight Marauders² will be appreciated as much as it could be. Albums like ³Low End² and ³People¹s Instinctive Travels² dropped at a time where they created a style instead of just following one. I know someone out there asked why every song needed to be new, ya know, why can¹t fat be fat? Agreed... I think ³Award Tour² is fat, but will it be a classic? As a hip hopper, what do you strive for? Fatness is good, but I¹d want some sh*t that would get parties jumping five years from now.

hmm

What? You *didn't* like the first couple of cuts. They are practically the best ones! "144K" and "Da Rill shyt" have got to be some of the best cuts out. Both are tight, lyrically and musically and combine the best of hip hop and reggae. Madd flavor.

My list of talented producers: Try ATCQ. Every single album they'¹ll put out will be different from the other in style.

-The Beatnuts have been around for ages...where you been? And they have nuff styles to pull out...their EP had at least three distinct styles unless you think ³Reign of the Tec² was similar to ³No equa

-Diamond D is dope, no argument there.

-Large Professor has some of the most talent IMO. Check out the tracks he did for everyone from Slick Rick to GangStarr (Gotta Get Over was FAT!) to Nasty Nas.

-Pete Rock...well, I¹m gettin kinda sick of him too, but I can'¹t front on his abilities. If PR proves that he can flex more than just his signature style, horns and all, than I'¹ll be better satisfied.

Let'¹s not forget:

The Hiero producers...once Casual¹s and Del¹s new sh*t drops, no one wi be able to brush them off.

Muggs-Yeah, Soul Assasins is getting old, but he still knows how to f- sh*t up.

Showbiz!!!

> Funky Lemonade '92? Is this a Remix of Chi-Ali's track? Where can I |> get it? Yes, there is a remix to "Funky Lemonade." On the b-side is "Let The Horns Blow" which was the most slept on posse jam (Chi, Beatnuts, Tribe Called Quest) in '92. shyt was phat! If you can find it, good, else you're out of luck unlesss somebody dubs it for you.

So what I am saying is this whole arguement about black, white, red, yellow, purple with polka dots is played. What's real is yourself, what's true is you. Be yourself, and be true to whatever that is. The real MCs will never quit rocking the mic, even when hip-hop trends fade. Or as KRS-One put it, "We will be here FOREVER do you understand that? GET what I'm SAYING"
